Karissa Lorinne (pronounced Lor-en, like Sophia Loren) is a professionally trained makeup artist who specializes in bridal and beauty makeup in Orange County, CA and surrounding counties. She attended makeup school in Costa Mesa, CA at Empire Academy of Makeup under the teaching of Donna Mee. Karissa graduated from Empire's beauty program in 2010, and has continued her education with workshops and online webinars.
Karissa's interest in makeup sparked as a young girl who used to love watching her mother apply her own makeup. As she grew older, Karissa would borrow her mother's eyeliner and apply it at school, then wash it off before returning home because she was not allowed to wear makeup until high school. Once she reached high school her mother took her to MAC Cosmetics and bought her some makeup and brushes, and then they went home and her mom gave her a makeup lesson. From then on Karissa was obsessed with playing with her makeup in her room. She could wear as much makeup as she wanted while at home, but was only allowed to wear a small amount outside the house.
Karissa was also highly influenced by the book Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin, as well as makeup in advertisements and music videos. She would practice the looks on herself, and it inspired her to want a career in makeup. She began doing friends' makeup in high school for dances and other special occasions, and eventually heard about Empire Academy of Makeup, which was local and had a financing option. She had her first interview and the rest is history.
Since finishing makeup school in 2010, Karissa has worked on many photo shoots with professional photographers, agency represented models, and talented wardrobe stylists. She began focusing on bridal makeup in 2015, and was signed by her first agency in 2016, specifically for bridal hair and makeup. She resides in Southern Orange County where she provides services in makeup application and hairstyling for weddings and special events at her home studio, as well as makeup services for print and film, private lessons, and special effects.
